A very cool Mid-Century Modern Home featured in the AJC ;-)

November 2nd, 2011
by vanessa

So the other day I got a phone call from a guy who said he worked for the AJC, at first I thought he was going to try and sell me some kind of advertising package, but when he started explaining how he was a reporter who focused writing about personal residences for the AJC Homefinder section, my ears pricked up and my heart started beating fast. You see, I’ve always enjoyed getting attention, ever since I was an obnoxious, snot-nosed little kid I would do all kinds of morally wrong things just to get my mom’s attention. This is what happens when you are the only child for 8 years and then all of a sudden you get 2 younger siblings. So when the reporter/photographer asked if he could photograph my house and write a little blurb about my business and decor aesthetic I didn’t say “yes,”  I said: “ABSO-FRIGGIN-LUTELY!” Then put the phone down and sprung into consecutive back-flipps.

Ok so now that my ego is over-inflated here are some pictures of my oh-so-fabulous Mid-Century Modern Home that I have tenderly renovated and decorated of the years. Thanks for reading ;-) For the full Article with all the Juicy Details CLICK HERE   ** Disclaimer:  Cheesy subtitles were taken from AJC Article.

“When I’m having a bad day, I will take it out on my house and re-¿arrange the furniture,” Vanessa Reilly says. “When I get the urge to move, which is about once a year, I will just call my painter instead."

The dining room features a 78-inch oval Saarinen marble dining table that Reilly said she drooled over for several years before buying it.

Reilly painted the bedroom walls a soft grey blue and kept the furnishings simple. Because of the big picture window she chose a low rise IKEA platform bed. The light birch finish of the bed matches the light wood ceilings.

The foyer has five skylights, an artist console with tiny drawers for storing paint, and a vintage Tomesode kimono.

Vanessa Reilly bought her Atlanta home in 2008. She originally hated the man-made berm in the front yard, but has grown to love it over the years. "The berm shields the home from the street, providing an abundance of privacy," she says.

Northcrest: Another Happy Home Owner!

July 9th, 2011

After multiple offers and multiple contracts falling though Evan and Rebecca finally found their NORTHCREST Dream Home!! They are the new LUCKY owners of 3685 Eaglerock Dr.

Have you been looking for a Mid-Century Modern Home in Atlanta but can’t find it? Have you heard of Northcrest? I know there is a lot of stigma with living “OTP” (outside the perimeter) but here is the thing: Northcrest isn’t “outside” it’s “at” the perimeter! and I can tell you from personal experience that  it  is easier to get to places in and around Atlanta from this location than most in-town locations where I’ve lived in the past!  With 285 and 85 so close you can be in Buckhead in 10 minutes and at the Perimeter Mall area in less than 15. Or if you need to shoot downtown for some IKEA shopping you can get there in 15 minutes!!

So stop getting all hung up on living ”INSIDE” the perimeter. In Northcrest you get more BANG for the BUCK, bigger yards, cool neighbors and an assortment of wildlife! Plus we have tiki bar at our swim club, WHAT OTHER NEIGHBORHOOD POOL HAS A TIKI BAR!?!?! Riddle me that!

Are you looking for a Mid-Century Modern Home??

Are you a MCM Junkie?

May 29th, 2010

I don’t know what it is, but around this time of year I start getting the itch – the furniture bug itch that is. Call me obsessive, call me compulsive but when it comes to Mid-Century Modern Furniture (and MCM Homes) I go a little nuts. MCM stuff is like crack, it started off as an interest and then all of a sudden I had a full blown habit of buyer Knoll tables and Eames Lounges deep down

5 SECRETS for installing the Perfect Back Splash

May 27th, 2010
by vanessa

Ok so in my opinion there is nothing sweeter than a super-cool back splash to top off a mid-Century Modern kitchen making it unique, lovely and awe-inspiring! Every modern (or traditional) renovation I design and follow through with has a back splash that makes the buyer’s heart pitter-pat, which leads to a FULL PRICE OFFER : )

The trick to installing the right back splash is knowing what your working with and complimenting the rest of the kitchen without being a “forgone conclusion” or an obnoxious, gaudy wannabe decorator. Some times it’s nice to add a little unexpected modern style in contrast with a tradition cabinetry (if that’s what your working with) or if your kitchen is monochrome add some color!
