Psssstt…. here’s some Juicy Gossip!

August 7th, 2011
by vanessa

We don’t want to brag, but here at domoREALTY we are kind of a big deal.  It still surprises us when we introduce ourselves only to be asked “Do-Mo who?” or “what is DO-MO?” or “Where did you come up with that name?” shortly followed by “…Oh, is that from that robot song?”

I’m sorry to disappoint you, but domoREALTY did not highjack our name from the famous 80′s Styx song: Domo Arigato Mr. Robato

For those of you who did not sign up for your High School Latin class: Domus is the Latin word for home. We dropped the “us” added an “o” to make it sound more modern and va-la: domoREALTY was born!

Now that you are in the know about Domo, let’s continue to talk about how cool we are…  So with all the negative news about the housing market these days we thought it would be fun to share some GOOD NEWS about the Atlanta MODERN Real Estate Market!

Recently domoREALTY has been getting a little recognition in the Atlanta press, so why not share these upbeat articles about the Modern Real Estate market in Metro Atlanta?! Enjoy!

Disclaimer: Smoking kills and makes you smell bad, but it’s ok to hold a cigarette every now and then just to look cool in pictures. Just don’t inhale.

Dick and Jane’s Mid-Century Modern Makeover!! (Before & After Pics)

November 5th, 2010
by vanessa

This one was fun!! The 3597 Eaglerock Dr. already had GREAT BONES and sits on one the most coveted lots in the Mid-Century Modern neighborhood of NORTHCREST! The lot is over an ACRE and the gardens have been loved and nurtured over the years to provide some of the most spectacular fruits and flowers!

Mr. and Mrs. Dingler lived and loved this house for close to 30 years and they had the basement dug out by hand to create a wonderful large office where Mr. Dingler could keep track of their day to day finances. The clean Mid-Century Modern lines of this house were left intact while we decided to go with a more modern gray color pallet for the outside and cool whites and blues for the interior. Wood Floors were added as well as a completely new kitchen and baths. All the electrical was updated along with some hip contemporary lighting that had a MCM twist. The copper plumbing is new and the “shag” a.k.a frieze carpet in the den added an element of cozy-class. The original hood-vent, which previously displayed an electric fireplace was left for the new owners to decide what they wanted to do with it. Some people like it some don’t. I personally think it gives the home a more original feeling and keeps in line with how the builders/ designers wanted it back in the 1960′s (but to each his own).

Northcrest was featured in the Atomic Ranch issue last winter. If you are interested in finding out more about this article please email me and I’ll send you a copy! Interested in finding out where to buy Mid-Century Modern Original pieces? Check out City Issue, Antique Factory and Highland Row!!

Enjoy looking at the dramatic changes and please forward to your friends and/or family who is looking for their very own Mid-Century Modern Home to call their own. This house is for sale and offered at $300,000.

Northcrest Home Values for 2010

September 25th, 2010
by vanessa

Ok, that’s it, I’ve heard enough of this negative commentary about the real estate market “bottoming out” and “property values in free fall.” Seriously, the world as we know it is NOT coming to an end and just because there have been a couple foreclosures in Northcrest doesn’t mean the home values have gone to sh*t!! OK!?!?

So listen up, I’m going to break this down for each and every person who is thinking about selling OR BUYING in Northcrest. Let’s look at the facts, the numbers and the actual VALUES of recent sales in 2010. Let’s explore what each property has sold for and
